EngageX — Privacy Policy

EngageX is a Chrome extension that helps you review activity on Instagram, prepare draft comments and replies, and post them once you approve them. This policy explains what data the extension handles, where that data goes, and why.

Who we are

What the extension accesses

EngageX runs inside your browser and works with the Instagram session you are already signed in to. It does not ask for, collect, or store your Instagram password, and it does not read credentials from your browser.

Two-profile setup

EngageX can run in two Chrome profiles that coordinate with each other. When it does, activity events — which can include comment text, public usernames, and post captions — pass between those two profiles through our relay service at client.downlabs.co. This is used only to hand off work between your own two profiles.

Optional engagement feature

If you enable the optional engagement feature in Settings, the identifier or link of a comment that has been posted is sent to our service and forwarded to a third-party provider that delivers that feature. No other data about you is shared with that provider. This feature is optional and can be switched off in Settings at any time.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
We do not use your data to assess creditworthiness or for lending decisions.
We do not collect your browsing history, and the extension does not read pages outside the sites listed in its permissions.
We do not collect payment card details through the extension.
We do not collect your location, health data, or personal messages outside the Instagram comment threads the extension is working with.

Permissions and why they are needed

storage — saves your settings, watch list, and review queue in your browser.
alarms — schedules background checks so the extension can look for new activity on a timer.
tabs — opens and manages the Instagram tabs the extension works in.
scripting — runs the extension's own code on Instagram pages to read posts and post approved comments.
notifications — tells you when something needs your attention.
sidePanel — provides the review panel where you approve drafts.
Site access to instagram.com, cdninstagram.com, and fbcdn.net — to read the posts and threads you are engaging with and to post the comments you approve. Site access to client.downlabs.co is used for licence checks and drafting.

Retention

Settings, queue, and activity history stay in your browser until you clear them from the extension's Settings page or remove the extension. Drafting requests are processed by our service to produce a response and are retained only as long as needed to operate and support the service. Licence records are kept for the life of your plan.

Your choices

Manual approval is the default — nothing is posted until you approve it.
The optional engagement feature can be turned off in Settings.
You can clear your stored settings and history from the Settings page.
Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in your browser.
To request deletion of data held by our service, email info@downlabs.co.

Children

EngageX is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
